Fishings

We have 10 miles of varied and productive fishing on the rivers Bladnoch, Cree and Palnure Burn. Much of this fishing is excellent open flywater with well maintained banks and little need to wade. The Bladnoch is unique amongst the Solway Rivers in producing a Spring run of Salmon.

This is followed by Summer grilse from June on the first spates, with a good build up of fish towards Autumn. The brown trout fishing on the Bladnoch can produce excellent sport particularly on the dry fly. Salmon fishing on the Cree and Palnure can be very rewarding from late Spring onwards.

These waters also provide good sea-trout fishing. You will always be shown the beats on your Sunday arrival. Friendly help and advice is happily given by Proprietor Jonathan Haley. Inspite of our extensive fishings we limit the number of rods so all can be given personal attention and are able to enjoy the best of our fishing. A beat rotation sheet is provided to all guests on their arrival. Our fishing costs are amongst the most reasonable anywhere for the quality and quantity of the fishing service offered. This is our deliberate policy to promote regular rebookings.

This can be achieved because we own the fisheries and are not committed to expensive annual leases. The visiting angler is always given the opportunity to re-book his week the following year. Please re-book with Jonathan before your departure. A 20% (Approx.) deposit please. Some of the preferred flies are Munroe Killer, Stoats Tail, General Practitioner, Ally Shrimp, Green Highlander etc. Shrimp & Prawn is strictly banned.
